We are excited to report that mid-way through August, once the children had broken up from school and the finishing touches were added to the new plots, the whole group of mums moved from the Turning Point Farms to their own plots of land. The week of the move was an exciting one for many reasons, the mums took a break from shifting their belongings to their new homes to travel to Nairobi to meet the two cyclists, Mat and Tim, who had pedalled a tandem all the way from Woking in the UK to Nairobi to raise funds for the farm project.
The mums enjoyed the welcoming party in Nairobi and also had the chance to tell their story to the press who had taken an interest in their journey as well as the cycling boys. While the cyclist's efforts are complete, the next journey for the mums is only just beginning. Now they are all settling in to their new surroundings and beginning the hard work of cultivating their land.
Now the Turning Point Farm is being prepared for a new group of mums to start the process again later this year, we hope to have a good crop ready for the next group to harvest when they arrive.
