Evian III "Vision 2020" Leadership Conference

Dear Friends & Valued Supporters,

Again, my heartfelt appreciation to all of you who have contributed to this project from its inception. In my first report, citing progress made in the early formative stages, the Hotel Royal / Evian Resort Executive staff management & I had yet to solidify a firm date for this event in Evian. I'm now delighted and proud to inform everyone that indeed an actual date has been set, confirmed, and complete arrangements made for July 11th.

What at the time seemed like months away, we are now within 45 days of sitting together in Evian, France in the same room where the historic 1938 Conference took place and will do so amidst the accompanying presence of global Jewish leaders, French historians, authors, filmmakers, and Human Rights subject matter experts representing some of the world's most recognized and respected Jewish & Human Rights organizations.

With key note speeches from AJC, Yahad in UNUM, & The Lantos Foundation, and others, the event agenda with it's theme of "Remembering the Past and Plotting a Course for the Future", will document, in the midst of international media coverage, the initiation of new international dialogue regarding the pressing issues of our day related to Human Rights and the continuing rise in global anti-Semitism. 

Since my last report, I'm thankful to have been afforded the remarkable opportunity to raise further awareness of the two interrelated episodes of the Evian Conference, its conception and history, and the saving of 700 Jewish settlers in Sosua, Dominican Republic via lectures and presentations given on these topics to a large gathering of students at Bentley University in Waltham, MA, Temple Emanuel Brotherhood breakfast in Andover, MA, and Temple Beth Jacob Brotherhood in Concord, NH. Upcoming lectures at NEGHS (New England Geneological Historic Society) and other US Institutions of higher learning are slated for post July 11th, the Evian event date.

Although in the past two weeks I have received additional financial contributions from several Jewish Federation agencies in the US, including my hometown of Detroit, as of this report writing, we have yet to achieve our $10K goal. Still I'm confident with your advocacy and via your passing the details of this 80th Anniversary Commemorative Plaque project on to others within your professional circles who might find this a worthy cause, we will reach our goal to ensure the best success possible for this event!
