Dear Friends & Valued Supporters,
Thank you for making the dream of conducting a Summer 2018 Commemorative ceremony at the Hotel Royale in Evian France in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the 1938 Evian Conference a reality. Your generous financial contributions helped this project reach its first important milestone of becoming a "vetted" graduate of the GlobalGiving 2017 End of year campaign. This now allows this project continued access to permanently utilize the GlobalGiving crowdfunding platform to further promote the event and garner additional donations to finalize the associated arrangements.
Since Jan 1st and as a result of this campaign, over the course of the past few weeks, I have accepted invitations from Boston/New England area Jewish synagogues and community organizations to present lectures on the background history of the Evian Conference including scheduled events at the Jewish Heritage Center at the New England Geneological Historic Society in downtown Boston, to students at Bentley University in Boston, & to the Brotherhood at Temple Emanuel in Andover, MA. Each lecture, scheduled between now & mid April will have a fundraising component to help bridge the gap of the total funds required to fund the creation of the historic bronze plaque to be permanently affixed in the hotel (sample computer generated image is an attachment) in addition to a ceremonial dinner and lodging discounts for benefactors who would like to attend the ceremony. The tentative reserved dates for this event is Saturday, July 14th
Last week, my story and highlights of this project were featured as the front page story in the Boston Jewish Journal (see attached) and I just secured two college interns to help with related administrative and promotional efforts
Thus far, I have secured 4 key "foundational" sponsors, including a key endorsement from a major NH based Family Foundation inspired by the work of the only US Congress member ever who was a Holocaust survivor. All 4 donors who have offered substantial financial support and advocacy for this important work has justified their inclusion as a BENEFACTOR spot (in raised bronze letters) on the actual plaque and who are interested in traveling to Evian to be present for this ceremony
