The 1938 Evian Conference, convened at the beginning of WWII upon the direction of US President Franklin Roosevelt and attended by 32 leading world countries was assembled to address the growing refugee crisis created by Nazi persecution of European Jews. By bringing "history to action" the project mission, following the 2018 programs, is to "educate the next generation" of world leaders via a Student Educational Leadership Conference held at the Hotel Royal, the original Conference site.
Growing global AntiSemitism and increased AntiSemitic acts in the US and in Europe. Lack of global awareness of the far reaching significance and impact of key turning points in history, which if handled differently, could have altered the course of the Holocaust occurring or its severity. After successful 2018 events, this Conference is completely organized including all student diplomats, distinguished educators, keynote speakers, however conference director lacks major underwriting support.
Through continued recognition of the lasting significance of this historic Conference and reconvening it at the original Conference site provides the perfect learning environment to educate the next generation of college student leaders or "student diplomats" from around the who represent both their respective countries and leading Jewish and Human Rights organizations. Re-examining the failed framework brings to light the overarching themes of fighting intolerance & inequality in today's world.
With "Educating & Remembering" as the overarching theme of the nonprofit, Sosua75, generations of students & tourists coming to the area staying at this hotel will learn about this important chapter in world history, which is hardly known, spoken, or taught in history books. It will cause those to reflect in thought what the huge consequences are of being a bystander and turning a blind eye to prejudice can perpetuate, in this case "Kristallnacht" and Hitler's "Final Solution."
