Dear Friends, Supporters, and Collaborators,

Time again for the quarterly update on progress made towards convening the Evian III Student Educational Leadership Conference in 2021.

Now moving into Autumn I hope everyone enjoyed a summer filled with warm memories and most importantly one free of COVID health concerns.

With the complete project framework already in place and as much as my original vision and intentions were to conduct this Conference face to face with the international student representatives flying in from around the world the complicated logistics of global travel and individual country COVID restrictions remain limiting factors which make this effort difficult to coordinate.

Still targeting and tracking towards November 9th, the Kristallnacht anniversary date, for a virtual Conference, I am still under the well founded notion that pulling off this event is conceivable with the vital assistance of dedicated technical coordination and resources.

Although not nearly as impactful and costly as an "in person" event still I retain the task of contracting the services of technical professionals with the required level of expertise to align the virtual framework to maximize the Conference's technical effects, Q&A capability, and other desired visual aspects across multiple regional time zones.

Funding this Conference, in either format, to do it the justice it deserves can not be accomplished without the financial support of organizations or individuals which during the continuing COVID outbreak has become increasingly difficult to find. However, with the assistance of a few key contributions this event can indeed still become a reality in 2021.

As your donations are fully tax deductible please consider becoming a foundational sponsor of this creative educational event and or please feel free to contact me directly via email at elihu@sosua75.org to discuss your involvement as I welcome any and all constructive suggestions or referrals you can offer!

Thanks and Best,

Hello Friends and Supporters,

I’m pleased to share some exciting and encouraging news in this quarterly report as I continue to track towards reconstituting the Evian III Student Educational Leadership Conference at the Hotel Royal in Evian France in 2021

Per the attached photos from the GM of the Evian Resort the official announcement was just released that the Hotel Royal has again reopened as of last week!

This, with prayerful watch of the pandemic continuing to abate, paves the way for an in person conference this year, again planned for November 9th (Kristallnacht), with the same or similar agenda as was originally envisioned back in 2019.

Most all of the original Conference Student Ambassadors and delegates representing over 30 countries who have patiently waited to participate in this dynamic educational event/experience in this unique historic backdrop (including new country recruits) are excited to finally see this important and timely program come to fruition.

Always the most limiting or enabling factor, depending upon the level of financial contributions received, the 2021 event will be either a blended model of on-site Keynote presenters, acclaimed educators, and student leaders representing each continent or combine the complete compliment of everyone on-site together

With the advent of webcast technology the plan is to broadcast the program “live”. With the continuing escalation of global AntiSemitic incidents the overall merits of convening this Conference and its contemporary relevance could not hold more significance.

As I’m searching for both major event underwriters and individual contributors to make this event a reality please don’t hesitate to contact me directly via email at edb1260@gmail.com or 603-502-7711 on WhatsApp

Leading the 2018 Revisiting Evian Conference

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Supporters,

First and foremost, my best wishes to everyone who has navigated the past turbulent year as the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about an unimaginable shift in how we live, work, support each other, and our communities.

Being confined to the digital world for the better part of 2020 and now into 2021 so too, did it disrupt the continuity of re-hosting the Évian III Student Educational Leadership Conference at the Hotel Royal last year.

Being an educator these days, in any capacity, is extremely challenging.

In this quarterly report, my goal is to reassert the high merits and tremendous educational opportunity which reconvening this Conference represents towards setting new standards of Holocaust Education for International college students.

Each year the world loses more of the few remaining Holocaust survivors; those who actually cite their personal testimonies referencing the horrific events of WWII. Understanding this attrition and combining it with the absence of actual face-to-face social interaction in “traditional” educational settings, push us now to conceive new creative methods to “Educate and Remember”.

Through an immersive and experiential learning environment, theEvian III SELC presents an innovative educational programming opportunity to draw contemporary relevance from the late 1930’s and early 1940’s to the events and challenges of immigration and refugees in today’s world.

Beyond conventional learning techniques and text book curriculum this Conference will “bring the past to life” helping college students who are struggling to find and define their own identity, create their own legacies.

As the potential “future face” of Holocaust Commemoration and Education, the SELC will immerse students in this historic backdrop and facilitate students to become stakeholders in their own destinies. By using their own voices, students will act as goodwill ambassadors in their own communities throughout the world.

While news of a vaccine gives us cause for optimism the timeline for our lives returning to normal remains uncertain. Therefore, the plan is to work towards hosting students directly at the Hotel Royal in November of 2021.

However, if global travel circumstances or extended strict COVID social distancing guidelines preclude this option, instead, within a 45 day runway and funding dependent, I will transition this to a complete virtual event.

Partnering with newly uncovered International Holocaust Commemoration organizations, Non-profits, and individuals with synergistic missions and objectives, I dedicate my time and energy for this program to be recognized, supported, and succeed in honor of those who perished under WWII Nazi atrocities during the Holocaust.

Your tax deductible donation, in any increment and sponsorship of this program is deeply appreciated and will be applied directly toward achieving the express goals of this Conference.

Please do not hesitate to get back to me with any questions or interest in special underwriting or sponsorship opportunities related to this program.

Also kindly please pass this link along to others you know who may find sincere interest in co-organizing, participating in, or financing this Conference.

With continuing hopes for the health and well being of you and your families in 2021,

Thank you,

Elihu Baver

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Since my last project update report on this Conference was submitted it seems like the past 3 months have flown by in a flash as we all have been faced with re-engineering our lives from any semblance of the life we have known.

Projects and career plans we all have been working on which had a strategic plan attached and held promise have been turned upside down and rescheduling this Conference is no different. Although eliminating the always important face-to-face interactions where longstanding relationship bonds can be established, thankfully in this age of Technology and Zoom televideo Conference calls people from different locations (bringing together students from all over Europe and the world) can still convene and result in a meaningful and substantive educational event.

So the current plan is to maintain the many students engagements and relationships which I established last year and collect up what funds I can to host a televideo event which in reality is far less money to organize when you eliminate the whole travel and accommodation expenses. Students from around the world can still be brought together just in a modified manner which does not detract from the original hopes and intentions for the Conference however now a $40,000 event can be conceived and executed upon for significantly less.

Lord knows everyone is in conservation mode with their finances and the willingness to gain financial supporters for a project like this is more difficult than ever. Still I believe the desire to help others if even in a small way, or little by little, which has been the prevailing case, can still amount to making this event happen.

Understanding the huge educational benefit to many this Conference and its agenda can derive I am remaining optimistic and committed to it and I deeply appreciate your faith and confidence in me that soon this event will become a reality and a be another success (like the 80th Anniversary Historic WWII Plaque dedication event was) as was originally envisioned.

Strength and wishes for well being to everyone, Best Always,

Elihu

Dear Friends and Supporters,

In these shifting times of sweeping social change and overriding health concerns it is important to contemplate creative alternatives to gathering together in large numbers which certainly also apply to this Conference.

Let me begin by expressing my sincere thanks to all of you who took an earnest interest in helping and supporting this Conference both in 2018 and again last year.

By way of brief review, this Conference was conceived and planned for November of 2019 however despite every effort being put forth regrettably the event necessitated cancellation within a week of it convening due to a shortfall of required funding and last minute event de-committs from a couple of major event underwriters. These funds were needed specifically to cover the expenses of lodging and meals for the 50 plus students, distinguished educators, and top level keynote speakers who were scheduled to attend the event.

With both great disappointment and also sincere encouragement expressed from the committed scheduled event attendees I had thought of attempting to convert the Conference to a televideo version so it still could take place last year however the runway to organize it was just too short. The hope was to try it again this year however all plans needed to be placed on hold, like so many other Conferences and large public gatherings, due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the current travel restrictions.

So, the plan now is to look forward to re-scheduling this Évian III Student Educational Leadership Conference Conference for this November as a quality major televideo produced event. Although it will be difficult to replicate the same “vibe and feel” of hosting this as an on-location event at the historic Hotel Royal original 1938 Conference site I feel confident the magnitude and impact for these international students can still be achieved.

As evidenced by the horrifying recent events in the US which have continued to expose the ugly underbelly of systemic racism and AntiSemitism, fighting the issues of intolerance and inequality in the world today could never provide more fertile ground for constructive and meaningful dialogue on these topics. This was the spirit and intent of conducting last year’s event and for continuing this effort in a different format to educate the leaders of tomorrow.

Please know my commitment to making this highly beneficial Conference a reality this year, albeit in an alternative format, is still very strong! With the hope of not letting this vision and all the effort invested by so many “die on the vine” contributions of any size will be greatly appreciated.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions and Thank you

Wishing everyone health, strength and tolerance for a better world!
