Negros Oriental Welcomes Boost of Tourist Visits
Since last year, the boost of tourist visits in Negros Oriental has been evident with 869,774 arrivals.
The increase in tourism receipts was boosted by more visitor arrivals from high-spending markets such as South Korea, China, Japan, United States and Taiwan. Meanwhile, Australia, Germany, France, United Kingdom and Canada, likewise, also posted high arrivals.
This development has been brought about by published good reviews from tourists who came to the province and experienced the warmth of the people and the beauty and wonders of its natural resources.
The Tourist Information and Assistance Center near the seaport of Dumaguete has been serving as a welcome place for many tourists. The City Tourism Office has assigned personnel to manage the place and as well as tend to the tourists who may ask for essential materials which includes the tourist destinations.
Recently, the closure of Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan, still located in Visayas Region, is expected to give more advantage tourist arrivals in Negros Oriental, its nearby Siquijor, Bohol, Cebu and Negros Occidental.
Negros Oriental, being at the center and is called the gateway to several destinations, plays a great role in welcoming tourists, both local and international, and so the Tourist Information and Assistance Center has become an avenue to properly address concerns involving the booming tourism industry in the Visayas region.
