Dear Friends,
with this report we would like to share a grateful and thankful update that comes from our local partner in Eritrea and the girls hosted at “Casa Foca.”
Since the last update report in February, we would like to share with you the important events that have marked the last few months.
In April, all the girls living in the shelter home were able to celebrate Easter. This celebration, a symbol of rebirth and renewal, brought some happiness and serenity in a difficult context. As you know, many of the girls and young girls sheltered are orphans or have absent fathers (some have unfortunately died or been conscripted as soldiers). These moments of community celebration are important opportunities to stay together and support each other.
School has continued and the school year has ended. All the girls put in a lot of effort and made it through the school year. Indeed, our local representatives try every day to emphasize the fundamental importance of education for each girl's future, considering it a crucial element for their future autonomy. We would like to share the school report card of K., one of the girls hosted at “Casa Foca”, a girl who lost her father when she was two years old.
Below is the letter K. wrote to us:
"Hi I'm K.,
now I'm in the second grade and I'm continuing to study. I like it very much, but I struggle because of an eye problem that I have had since I was six years old. I take medicine and sometimes it gets better. I am doing well in school and last year I received an award for being one of the ten girls with the best grades. My friends are named L. and S. and we are always together."
We can only thank you for your vital support for the lives of the girls growing up in “Casa Foca”!
