Breaking the Cycle of Poverty Through Parenting, Mentorship, and Child Support

By IVAN SSEGUYA | Project leader

A teenage mother may be struggling to rebuild her own life while simultaneously caring for a young child. Without adequate guidance and support, the pressures of parenting can make it difficult for her to pursue education, acquire skills, find opportunities, or provide consistent care for her child.

Through this program, F SSIBU Mission Foundation seeks to provide integrated parenting support, mentorship, counseling, and child-focused assistance to young mothers facing difficult circumstances.

Donor contributions can help provide parenting education, individual and group mentorship, counseling, child welfare support, and practical guidance on nutrition, hygiene, child protection, and early childhood development. Where resources permit, support may also help vulnerable mothers access essential needs for their children.

Mentorship can give young mothers an opportunity to learn from trusted adults and other women who can encourage responsible decision-making and personal development. Counseling can provide a safe environment to discuss challenges, while parenting education can strengthen confidence in caring for a child.

The broader goal is to help prevent the circumstances affecting one generation from becoming the same challenges facing the next.

When a young mother receives support to develop her skills, strengthen her parenting capacity, and pursue opportunities, her child can also gain a stronger foundation for growth and development.

Donors can become part of this two-generation approach to breaking cycles of poverty and vulnerability.

Every contribution can help a teenage mother move forward while giving her child a greater opportunity to grow in a safer, more supportive, and hopeful environment.
