During the Computer Lab Monitoring Visit conducted in Moshi Urban, Hai, and Simanjiro Districts, a 2 days capacity-building sessions in each school were delivered to about 40 teachers (23 male and 17 female) from beneficiary schools (i.e. Maringeni Secondary, Saashisha Secondary, Nkuu Secondary and Naisinyai Secondary)

The training focused on three key areas:

  • Digital Teaching Tools – Enhancing teachers’ ability to effectively utilize digital platforms and applications, such as Microsoft Office tools, Google Workspace, online conferencing platforms (i.e. Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams), Canva, Google Classroom and Email services, to support teaching and learning.
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Prompting – Introducing teachers to the fundamentals of AI, walking them through the underlying technology behind Ai Models and building practical skills in prompt design to enable effective and responsible use of AI tools.
  • Computer Laboratory Management and Maintenance – Reinforcing best practices for the proper use, management, and maintenance of computer labs to ensure sustainability of the facilities. This training was particularly important following the expansion of trained personnel from two to at least five teachers per school.

This engagement also identified additional capacity-building needs that may be considered in future interventions such as; responsible social media usage, PowerPoint presentation design, and ethical & responsible application of AI technologies.
