This summer, Education Partnerships Africa invested over £56,700 in 24 schools in East Africa. This was our largest summer project ever, and we had over 65 volunteers across Kisii, Kakamega and Uganda collaborating with an inspiring group of driven school leaders. We look forward to bringing you school spotlights and investment stories over the coming weeks as we finalise the collation of feedback and reflection on the changes instigated and strides made.
In the meantime, we are currently working hard to engage the next generation of volunteers in order that we can continue to grow our impact in East Africa, and ultimately expand to a fourth site in Iganga. This August we visited 6 potential partner schools in Iganga and are excited about the potential to work in the region.
In an exciting new development, this autumn we will be piloting a Massive Open Online Course with Teachers within our partner school network. Through this scheme, teachers will have access to online learning resources and peer support to help teachers use ICT and active learning in the classroom. Their participation will be supported by remote facilitation by EPAfrica volunteers and basic funding to enable participation. Through this pilot we hope to learn more about how teachers can be supported to access and participate in training opportunities to develop their teaching practice – and how best we can enable this.
Thank you very much for your support. EPAfrica is only able to grow the education opportunities of young people in East Africa and offer formational volunteering experiences to UK students through your generous support. It is both an exciting and challenging time for us as we grow and develop our scale and impact – and your support as we do this is hugely appreciated.
