Environmental Health Book in Dari for Afghanistan

Dear supporters,

Thank you so much for your generous support of CHA's efforts to print more copies of A Community Guide to Environmental Health in Dari. As a trusted Hesperian partner for many years, CHA will use every dollar raised by this campaign to cover the costs of printing the books, which are being eagerly awaited by the communities they serve.

We will be wrapping up this campaign on August 22nd, and will send a full report on the impact and distribution of the books at that time. In the mean time, we wanted to let you know that now is the time to share the campaign, if you know anyone who might be interested--all gifts from now until the 22nd will be matched dollar-for-dollar, and every dollar given will go toward printing costs. 

If this goal is reached, it will print a small print run of books to be distributed to community health workers.

Even if it is not reached, every dollar from this campaign will support the printing and distribution of this important resource. Thank you so much for your support!

Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance is run by the capable Dr. Hamidullah Saljuqi, who has successfully translated and distributed Hesperian books in the past. His experience with the process has helped him understand the need for A Community Guide to Environmental Health, and how best to get it into the hands of those who need it.

The view from the ground is often the best way to understand why health information is vitally important to a community. Dr. Saljuqi describes the need this way:

“Afghanistan faces critical environmental health problems…In Afghanistan, environmental conservation and economic concerns are considerable, with 80% of the population dependent on herding or farming, the welfare of the environment is critical to the economic welfare of the people. People are asking for more copies of the book, as well as CDs.”

Any money raised by this campaign will make these books a reality. Each book, in turn, will support an average of 40 people in protecting their environment and community health. We hope you will share this campaign, and help CHA meet their goal!
