Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance is run by the capable Dr. Hamidullah Saljuqi, who has successfully translated and distributed Hesperian books in the past. His experience with the process has helped him understand the need for A Community Guide to Environmental Health, and how best to get it into the hands of those who need it.
The view from the ground is often the best way to understand why health information is vitally important to a community. Dr. Saljuqi describes the need this way:
“Afghanistan faces critical environmental health problems…In Afghanistan, environmental conservation and economic concerns are considerable, with 80% of the population dependent on herding or farming, the welfare of the environment is critical to the economic welfare of the people. People are asking for more copies of the book, as well as CDs.”
Any money raised by this campaign will make these books a reality. Each book, in turn, will support an average of 40 people in protecting their environment and community health. We hope you will share this campaign, and help CHA meet their goal!
