1400 disadvantaged youth will learn about the interconnectedness of all life. Enabling them to bring their world back into balance, and how they can improve their own life through more constructive decision making and actions. The CoEco Curriculum is aimed at learners aged 12 to 14. It will be delivered in 28 schools and eco clubs. learners will also be mentored so that they are instilled with knowledge and confidence.
Children have become increasingly disconnected from the environment but more than that they have become disconnected from other aspects of their lives, such as their family unit and their community. To bring environmental change we have to increase their awareness of the natural world but the undercut for this is to increase their awareness and connection with themselves, their family and their community.
The program uses a well designed booklet that has information and exercises. Children study and then practice what they have learned. For example, the learner looks at the things family members do for each other to make their lives happier, healthier, and safer. Then they actively take steps to enhance the lives of their family members and then observe if their own lives improved, this is done with teachers, their school and nature. They learn to make more constructive decisions and actions.
Our educational campaign builds character, personal integrity, and a better understanding of the importance of balanced give and take, from one's relationship with one's parents, teachers, school and local businesses to the natural world. The fundamental concept that must be imbued into society is the concept of how one's own survival is interwoven with and dependent upon the health and survival of those life forms and the things around one.
