5th and 6th Meetings with Entrepreneurs!

By Karl Robert V. Johnsson | President of Instituto Dom

5th monthly meeting with entrepreneurs
5th monthly meeting with entrepreneurs

 *****ENGLISH*****

We had the 5th and 6th meetings with the entrepreneurs that this project is supporting, food baskets were delivered and important topics were discussed!

During the 5th meeting, held on June 20th, we again discussed the importance of registering financial information for your micro business. Instituto Dom lectured on how to establish "positive habits" and especifically how to create the habit of using the Financial mobile phone App. This App was suggested to all entrepreneurs as an easy way to register financial transactions daily, both for costs and for revenues and then viewing graphs and reports for any period. During this meeting we also discussed dificulties regarding the micro credit loan that all entrepreneurs are trying to obtain via Firgun institution. Instituto Dom informated that contact is being held with the micro credit institution Firgun. The monthly food baskets were delivered once again.

During the 6th monthly meeting, which was held in the same location as the 5th (Missão Rocinha's headquarters within the community), we had the privilege on having a lecture from a Sebrae Consultant. This Consultant is an experienced professional who deals daily with micro entrepreneurs from the Rocinha Community. In fact she said that the Sebrae office within the community is once again opened to free consultations from any micro entrepreneur (it was closed due to the pandemic). She informed the office hours and how to proceed. This is very positive for the micro entrepreneurs as it provides one more opportunity for learning and for resolving dificulties that any entrepreneur may have. Sebrae is a governmental institution which supports micro and small entrepeneurs in Brazil.

Instituto Dom's representative also lectured during the 6th monthly meeting and the main topic was a review of the characteristics and profiles that entrepreneurs mostly have. An interactive conversation took place where the entrepreneurs spoke of which characteristics they have and examples were given to prove that. The ten most common characteristics that entrepreneurs have is an important topic we usually reinforce and we also always state that such characteristics can be developed, enhanced or discovered by any entrepreneur. Luck and talent are not required for any entrepreneur!

During the 6th monthly meeting, we also had the visit of one of our financial supporters for this project, Instituto Phi. This Brazilian organization was represented by Matias and Layane. They observed the interactions between the entrepreneurs, talked to entrepreurs, listened to all lectures and more! They later informed that they were very pleased with all that they observed. This is a positive reinforcement for us at Instituto Dom as it shows us that we are doing very good work!

During both monthly meetings, Missão Rocinha, our community partner was also present helping us in several different ways. Both William and Grécia from this organization were present. The last 3 monthly meetings will be held in August, September and October.

Once again we thank you for your donation and your support which is allowing us to execute this project called Dom de Empreender!

Finally, we wanted to let you know that we are trying to raise funds (USD 2,000) to obtain the ILO (International Labor Organization) Accreditation on the entrepreneurial support framework they have, called SIYB. By obtaining this Accreditation, developed and proven by the ILO, we will be capable of executing excellent projects for thousands of disadvantaged micro entrepreneurs ! We're really excited. We count on your help and support! We will be posting a project on GlobalGiving or feel free to donate now to Instituto Dom! Thank You!

*****PORTUGUESE*****

Estamos bem animados. Contamos com sua ajuda e apoio! Muito Obrigada!
