This project, "Enhance Cervical Cancer Awareness and Education in Kibaale district, Uganda", aims to: - Increase awareness about cervical cancer among women and girls in kibaale district - Educate them on the importance of early screening and prevention - Provide training and capacity building for healthcare professionals - Improve access to cervical cancer screening and treatment services - Reduce the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in kibaale district
cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates in Uganda are alarmingly high, with an estimated 3,915 new cases and 2,105 deaths annually (Source: WHO). This is largely due to limited awareness and understanding of cervical cancer among women and girls, leading to late detection and treatment.Furthermore, inadequate access to cervical cancer screening and treatment services, particularly in rural areas, exacerbates the issue. Healthcare professionals also lack sufficient training.
Empower women through education on cervical cancer, symptoms, and early screening. Enhance healthcare professionals' skills in screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Provide accessible care through affordable services, mobile clinics, and community-based services. Promote early action through regular screening and early detection. Break barriers by engaging with communities to overcome cultural and socioeconomic obstacles.
The project's lasting impact will be seen in five key areas. We will reduce cervical cancer rates and mortality, empowering women and girls through education and awareness. We will strengthen healthcare capacity, ensuring sustainable services. Community engagement will be fostered, promoting a culture of health and wellness. Finally, our efforts will inform policy and advocacy initiatives, influencing national and global efforts to combat cervical cancer.
