Despite the economic downturn in Nigeria, which have affected everyone and business in different ways, It has been an exciting year of making necessary adjustments in the implementation of projects. It is more apparent and imperative than ever that reinventing methods and approaches to learning and adopting innovative solutions to deliver skills development programmes is necessary.
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve Technical and Vocational training delivery in Secondary Schools, we launched the roll-out of the EON-XR Augmented and Virtual reality platform in partnership with EON Reality in April 2021. We can adapt the course curriculum for digital learning, provide an inclusive and authentic learning experience in an immersive environment.
Over the months, we have organized several sessions of the training of Trainers for teachers on the EON-XR platform. The exercise improves the teachers' digital competencies, and the platform makes it possible to manage the shortage of trade teachers in the school as trade teachers from other schools can connect remotely to teach. The conversation of the course curriculum to digital content is ongoing.
On the 22nd of July 2021, a sensitization program was organized to share the detail on the project, the benefits of enrollment, career progression as an Automobile Technician, and the support available for the project's duration. The program collaborated with the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Oregun Junior High School, LadyMek Automobile and Cummins West Africa.
Out of the 60 students who attended the orientation, thirty-three enrolled, 23 were male, and ten were females.
The construction of the training lab is underway and will be completed by the time the program kicks off in September 2021, when the school resumes a new school year.
