The End Youth Unemployment. Support Trade Education project is an early intervention approach to curb youth unemployment. The project encourages and supports thousands of students to start a lifelong journey of vocational learning and career development. The principal objective of the project is to equip graduates of senior secondary schools with industry-relevant trade-specific competencies that allow for informed career decision and exploration of career paths.
COVID-19 posed a considerable challenge to the project. Since March 2020, Schools and all education departments have been shut down. The lockdown affected many stakeholders and project team as some activities and progress have significantly slowed down while others have been put on hold.
Some of the activities lined up for the period are the fitting and kitting of the lab, purchase of tools and equipment and teachers training; Parents Forum and Curriculum launch.
Available stakeholders were engaged virtually and the project team carry out as much back -end project activities as possible to manage gaps that may occur.
We envisage that the lockdown will be eased in the coming months in order for us to continue project activities.
We remain committed!
