During this reporting period, Samaritan’s Fellowship Foundation (SFFP) continued working with families in underserved areas of Sindh where women and children travel long distances to collect water from unsafe and unreliable sources.
Although this project has received only limited funding through GlobalGiving so far, SFFP used locally mobilized resources and partner support to begin providing immediate, practical assistance while continuing to pursue funding for the planned community wells and filtration systems.
Household Water Filters Distributed
Samaritan's Fellowship Foundation developed partnerships with Filters of Hope and Fountains of Hope, through which household water filters were made available for vulnerable communities.
Following community visits and assessments, filters were distributed among participating families exposed to unsafe drinking water. Families can now filter contaminated water before drinking, reducing their immediate exposure to waterborne illness while longer-term water infrastructure is developed.
Our Mobile Medical Mission activities further confirmed the urgency of this work. During three recent medical camps serving more than 210 patients, healthcare teams observed recurring illnesses associated with contaminated water, water scarcity, poor nutrition, and inadequate hygiene. These findings are helping SFFP connect medical treatment with preventive water and sanitation interventions.
Reducing the Burden on Women
Through locally available funds, Samaritan's Fellowship Foundation also distributed rolling water containers to 20 families.
Previously, women often carried heavy water vessels on their heads after walking long distances in extreme heat. The rolling containers allow families to collect a larger quantity of water with less physical strain and transport it more safely.
This is an immediate intervention rather than a permanent solution, but it reduces daily hardship while families wait for reliable water sources closer to their communities.
Stronger Partnerships and Planning
Samaritan's Fellowship staff have invested in professional capacity-building and coordination with relevant government departments, community organizations, and technical partners. This approach helps us avoid duplication, access existing expertise, identify suitable locations, and connect communities with available public resources.
Our long-term plan remains to drill four deep community wells and install filtration systems. The funds raised so far are not sufficient to begin this infrastructure safely and responsibly. We are therefore continuing technical planning, community coordination, partnership development, and fundraising.
