Endometriosis and Reproductive Health Foundation Bulgaria supports women with endometriosis, other chronic illnesses of the female reproductive system and infertility. In 6+ years, we've seen the urgent need for menstrual health education for adolescent girls. Help us provide free menstrual education and hygiene kits to girls living in poverty. Together, we can reduce stigma, prevent infections, and restore dignity.
Every day, 800 million women menstruate worldwide - but not all have access to safe hygiene. Menstrual poverty reflects deep social inequalities. Over 1 million women in Bulgaria live in extreme poverty, including 393 000 girls. Many girls resort to using unsafe materials such as old cloths, risking infections, serious health issues like toxic shock syndrome or even long-term health complications.
With your support we will provide free menstrual hygiene kits to school girls living in situations of extreme poverty or menstrual poverty. The Endometriosis and Reproductive Health Foundation provides free menstrual health education sessions for school students led by a psychologist and gynecologist. During these sessions our experts identify girls who are at risk of or living in a situation of menstrual poverty.
By providing education and hygiene supplies, we empower girls to stay in school, reduce shame and misinformation, and build healthy habits. Over time, we aim to create a culture of openness, reduce school absenteeism during menstruation, and influence national policy around menstrual health.
