All indications have shown that, it is not just a wasted time, efforts and resources; when actions and activities are geared towards prevention of mortality and disabilities caused by malaria and malnutrition in children, and Hypertension in adults. People living in Itamerin area of Ibadan in Akinyele LGA of Oyo state Nigeria, especially the children now have an improved life quality through project "MAMAH"(preventing children malaria and malnutrition; adults hypertension), an initiative of Oak Rural Health Organization. The rich components of the project ensured that more people were reached than envisaged.
Early discovery and treatment of hypertension in adults is a good move towards maintaining a healthy and productive lives. While early diagnosis and treatment of malaria in children drastically reduced the incidence of absenteeism in school. Also, reduce an unnecessary burden of medical expenses on parents. The little fund raised was judiciously utilised to provide at least one healthcare hub, which enables the people within the locality to have access to prompt health interventions.
However, there are still many components of the project not covered due to insufficient fund. Every penny put into this project has a potential to impact lives. Please! donate more to enable us help more children and women!

Our grassroots health access point
Malaria epidemic remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Nigeria. Lack of access to quality healthcare services in remote and grassroots settlements worsens it. Our health care outreaches and mobile clinics have proven effective in reaching the underserved and the unreached to enhance early diseases diagnosis, prevent both childhood and adults mortality; for a quality and productive lives. Securing places where healthcare services can be easily accessible to the community members, as a component of this project is a helpful and fruitful way. Although, lack of funds has limited our earlier planned healthcare point to only one, instead of four. The care point located at Arulogun road in the outskirt of Ibadan in Oyo state Nigeria, has been efficiently providing basic healthcare services needed to avert the incidence of malaria and other minor ailments. Of great importance is our timely treatment of children with high grade fever and nutrition counselling of nursing mothers within the locality. Rapid diagnostic tests through the use of test kits has enhanced our diagnostic capacity, especially malaria diagnosis. A number of case of hypertension has been discovered and placed on treatment through our routine blood pressure checks. The villagers and the neighbouring remote communities now have a point of healthcare access.
Promising interventions like these have an unquantifiable impact on the health and social wellbeing of the community members. Thus, the need for sustainability. This project has achieved more than we envisaged, even with the little fund raised within one year of its implementation. Lives of many other children in these remote communities will be saved with your generous donations to this project. They are economically disadvantaged, they depend largely upon intervention like this for survival.

Health outreach in project MaMaH! A stitch in time.

Drugs given to ailing child
Like an African common saying that "a stitch in time , saves nine". Baby "S" was an eighteen month old Male beneficiary of our Rural health outreach, who was saved from mortality by our swift intervention. He presented with a deep abcess on his left thigh, looking emanciated with a high grade fever. Mother said he has not fed well for about 3 days since the fever started. All local measures taken proved abortive as the conditions refused to improve. The baby boy was examined by one of our medical officers on sit. Later sent to our medical laboratory team, where he was tested positive for malaria parasite with other signs of possible sepsis. His treatment commenced immediately and he was stabilised. Other children who also presented with emergency febrile conditions and also tested positive for malaria parasite were stabilised and treated. Mothers were equally educated on care and prevention of childhood illnesses.
Lack of access to quality healthcare services in remote and grassroots settlements, remains a big challenge in Nigeria. Health care outreaches and mobile clinics have proven effective in reaching the underserved and the unreached to enhance early diseases diagnosis, prevent both childhood and adults mortality; for a quality and productive lives.
Oak Rural Health Organization has reached thousands of rural people in her various health interventions. Thus, a number of mortality has been averted. There is a lot of activities embedded in our project "end malaria malnutrition, save a child "(MaMaH).
