Beneficiaries & Center In-Charges Making Masks
Dhanpatmal Virmani Education Trust and Management Society, have organized 301 Women Literacy Centers in 09 districts in North and North West Delhi (INDIA). Mainly the centers are located in - Shalimar Bagh, Shakti Nagar, Rohini, Civil Lines, Narela, Moti Nagar, Keshavpuram, Mangolpuri, and Model Town. These districts are a house of women who got educated through this program "known as Center In-Charges" and now running centers and educating other women. Also, some of them are expanding their knowledge by getting further education.
Women Literacy & Empowerment Program came into existence in 2004. The motive of the program was to educate the illiterate adult women of the marginalized section of society. In the beginning, our intention seemed far-fetched and beyond the bounds of possibility. We commenced with only two centers in Majnu Ka Tila, teaching 60 beneficiaries annually.
The inception of the program ‘Women Literacy’ has been wholly successful in delivering education to the women in the most underserved areas. The program provides not only literacy but also the confidence to perform everything and anything independently.
It has spoken well that- “Education is the only power to change the world”
Currently, 10140 beneficiaries (women studying) are getting educated by this program and these beneficiaries are sincerely following the work plan and are in the progress of gaining complete knowledge of basic Hindi and Arithmetic.
THE JOURNEY OF ONLINE TO OFFLINE CLASSES
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, we started taking online classes. We initiated the Women Literacy Program online classes on 28th April 2020, teaching 2,495 beneficiaries, and ended up educating 20,280 beneficiaries in one year. The concept of teaching the beneficiaries online is distinct for the Center in-charges and the beneficiaries, yet it is a success. Beneficiaries feel exultant and excited by the new way of learning. They never thought in their dreams that they can learn online additionally.
As the pandemic situation got in hand, WLC Centers started working in offline mode from 1st November'2020 and our 10140 beneficiaries of the second batch of FY 20-21 finally got the chance to learn effectively & efficiently directly from their Center In-Charges.
But lately, the pandemic again got out of control due to increased Covid patients, like a resurrected person.
This resulted in again starting WLC classes in online mode.
ONLINE INTERACTION SESSIONS
Online sessions have been conducted by Virmani Education Trust concerning the COVID-19 situation with the Senior Coordinators, Coordinators, Center in-charges. Also, we have started with a practice of organizing periodic training sessions in online mode to ensure that all our centers are modernized with the latest information.
The WLC Manager leads the sessions and Senior Coordinators helps the Manager in understanding the problems and solving them.
SURPRISE ONLINE VISITS AT CENTERS
After the WLC Centers started operating in offline mode, it was necessary to ensure effective learning for beneficiaries. To accomplish the same, we started online surprise visits at centers at their center operating time.
It helped in a surpassing way to avoid leniency towards the center of Center In-Charges. Our teams always seek to do the most immeasurable for our beneficiaries.
SUCCESS OF OUR BENEFICIARIES
Before growing as beneficiaries, they were known as illiterate household wives who were only obligated to perform everyday chores. But, after enrolling in this program they are signing requisite documents, not with a thumb impression but with their signature, helping children with their studies, exchanges money with merchants, etc. Basically, after enrollment, they have learned reading & writing in Hindi & Arithmetic.
Beneficiaries, who have occupied themselves in household chores, are now together carrying out rallies in their clusters. Also, spreading awareness regarding health & hygiene, eliminating illiteracy. This program helped us in knowing more about our beneficiaries and target people who can make this change appear in society after acquiring education.
HANDMADE MASKS BY CENTER IN-CHARGES & BENEFICIARIES
As we know, the lockdown situation is over, and everybody is working and living as before. Also, vaccines for curing Corona Virus are available.
Since the situation is restrained. Our Women Literacy Center is now operating and teaching all the beneficiaries offline.
All 301 Center In charges and 10140 Beneficiaries are making masks for deprived people, our Center In-Charges has stitched 2694 and Beneficiaries has stitched 531 masks to help deprived families. Also, our Center In-Charges and Beneficiaries has distributed the masks to the needy people.
We are overwhelmed by the kind gesture of our Center In-Charges and Beneficiaries, we can solely learn from them.
