INTRODUCTION
Dhanpatmal Virmani Education Trust and Management Society, have organized 285 Women Literacy Centers in 08 districts in North and North West Delhi (INDIA). Mainly the centers are located in - Shalimar Bagh, Rohini, Civil Lines, Narela, Moti Nagar, Keshavpuram, Mangolpuri, and Model Town. These districts are houses of women who got educated through this program "known as Center In-Charges" and now run centers and educate other women. Also, some of them are expanding their knowledge by getting further education.
Women Literacy & Empowerment Program came into existence in 2004. The motive of the program was to educate illiterate adult women of the marginalized section of society. In the beginning, our intention seemed far-fetched and beyond the bounds of possibility. We commenced with only two centers in Majnu Ka Tila, teaching 60 beneficiaries annually.
The inception of the program ‘Women Literacy’ has been wholly successful in delivering education to the women in the most underserved areas. The program provides literacy and the confidence to perform everything and anything independently.
It has spoken well that- “Education is the only power to change the world”
Currently, 9585 beneficiaries (women studying) are getting educated by this program and these beneficiaries are sincerely following the work plan and are in the progress of gaining complete knowledge of basic Hindi and Arithmetic.
JOURNEY OF OFFLINE LEARNING
We are delighted to say that WLC Centers has started operating in offline mode, and our 9585 beneficiaries finally learning effectively & efficiently directly from their Center In-Charges.
Center In-Charges & beneficiaries are together making the mask, charts to aware the community, learning new activities like painting & stitching.
Also, all the precautions to avoid the spread of the Corona Virus are followed at every center. Only five beneficiaries are studying at a time. Batches are distributed at different time slots.
SUCCESS OF OUR BENEFICIARIES
Before growing as beneficiaries, they were known as illiterate household wives who were only obligated to perform everyday chores. But, after enrolling in this program they are signing requisite documents, not with a thumb impression but with their signature, helping children with their studies, exchanging money with merchants, etc. Basically, after enrolment, they have learned reading & writing in Hindi & Arithmetic.
Beneficiaries, who have occupied themselves in household chores, are now spreading awareness regarding health & hygiene, eliminating illiteracy. This program helped us in knowing more about our beneficiaries and target people who can make this change appear in society after acquiring education.
HANDMADE MASKS BY CENTER IN-CHARGES & BENEFICIARIES
All 285 Center In charges and 9585 Beneficiaries are making masks for deprived people, our Center In-Charges has stitched 11963 and Beneficiaries has stitched 4179 masks to help deprived families. Also, our Center In-Charges and Beneficiaries has distributed the masks to the needy people.
We are overwhelmed by the kind gesture of our Center In-Charges and Beneficiaries, we can solely learn from them.
ACTIVITY DAY
We provide a day in the week for beneficiaries to learn different activities like stitching, knitting, painting, etc. to make learning a beautiful experience for them.

GLOBAL GIVING QUARTERLY REPORT
JULY 2020- SEPTEMBER 2020
DHANPATMAL VIRMANI EDUCATION TRUST & MANAGEMENT SOCIETY
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Since March 2020, our worlds have been turned upside down in every department of our lives. The current global pandemic has halted most of the operations and we all are unable to move out. We all are adapting to the changes in our surroundings and in our daily lives.
In the beginning, we were utterly puzzled on how to move forward with our programs as most of our team is on-ground. With patience and brainstorming, we took the step to carry out all our operations online. We started to teach our beneficiaries online and they were excited about the online classes. Yes, we had our own struggles and ups & downs, but we believe to rise from every crisis and problems.
From July, 2020 to September 30, 2020, we have been teaching 9992 beneficiaries online.
WOMEN LITERACY PROGRAM (ONLINE CLASSES)
We commenced with the Women Literacy Program online classes in April 2020. The concept of teaching the beneficiaries online is new for the Center in-charges and the beneficiaries, yet it is a success. Beneficiaries feel proud and thrilled via the new way of learning. They never imagined in their dreams that they can learn online too. In total, we are educating 9992 beneficiaries online. Our beneficiaries have learnt how to read & write basic Hindi and Arithmetic.
ONLINE SESSIONS
Online sessions have been conducted regarding the COVID-19 with the Coordinators, Senior Coordinators, Center in-charges, and beneficiaries.
CHARTS TO AWARE OF THE COMMUNITIES
Center in-charges & beneficiaries made charts related to COVID-19 with the purpose to create awareness in the communities.
HANDMADE MASKS BY CENTER IN-CHARGES AND BENEFICIARIES
Our Center in-charges and beneficiaries have stitched 20,208 and 5,587 masks respectively for the deprived families and the communities to curb the shortage of masks at the medical stores. We are overwhelmed by the kind gesture of our Center in-charges and can solely learn from them.
RATION DISTRIBUTION
Ration distribution was carried out by Tata Power- DDL in the destitute communities such as Model Town, Shalimar Bagh, Narela, and Keshavpuram to help the coronavirus patients. Our Center in-charges assisted the Tata Poweer-DDL team in the distribution.
ACTIVITY DAY
During the current global pandemic, it is pivotal to concentrate on mental health. We are very much aware of the fact that a plethora of people are under stress and anxiety about what the future holds. To resolve this problem to some extent, we decided to encourage the beneficiaries to carry out activities they love the most such as stitching, cooking, etc. every Saturday. These activities can surely assist the beneficiaries to take some load and stress off from their minds.
We are eternally thankful for your support throughout. You truly make a difference for us, and we are extremely grateful.
Best Regards,
Virmani Education Trust
