QUARTERLY REPORT- JANUARY 2020- MARCH 2020

SUMMARY OF THE PROGRAM

WOMEN LITERACY & EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

Women Literacy & Empowerment Program (WLEP) is a program of Virmani Trust zealously working to provide functional literacy to underprivileged illiterate adult women. We started off with this beautiful journey in 2004 with only 2 centers at Majnu Ka Tila teaching 60 beneficiaries. There were hindrances and ups & downs and at one point we even thought of giving up. The dedication and enthusiasm of our President, C.E.O and our Women Literacy Team did not let us fall and also the mission of the forefathers of Virmani Trust “Giving back to society” kept us motivated and unstoppable.

We feel really proud to share with you that today we have 351 centers in North Delhi. During the last 14 years, 2,50,000 women, their families, and the communities have benefited from our program. Beneficiaries are taught to read and write Hindi and Arithmetic.

ACTIVITIES ORGANIZED AT THE WOMEN LITERACY CENTERS

Various rallies & activities are organized every Saturday of the month to aware of the communities regarding the importance of education, health & hygiene. Besides, some fun activities such as drawing, making designs with papers, etc. refresh the beneficiaries from their stressful lifestyle.

SESSION ATTENDED BY THE WLC INSTRUCTORS

A session was held on February 26, 2020, and was attended by the Virmani Education Trust WLC Instructors. The session was about the discussion regarding the overall working of the Women Literacy Centers and the Tata Power- DDL team resolved the issues asked by the instructors.

SESSION FOR SAFETY REGARDING ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

On January 14, 2020, a session was organized to aware of the Senior Coordinators, Coordinators and Center in-charges regarding the safety against the electrical appliances.

MEDICAL CAMPS AND EYE CAMPS

We are very much aware of the fact that private hospitals charge expensive fees for various basic tests and medication. The major reason behind the medical health camps and eye camps are to provide the destitute communities with free tests and low-cost medication. People don’t have to travel to distant places for minor checkups.

In total, 30 Medical Camps and 12 Eye Camps were set up in the destitute communities.

TATA POWER DELHI DISTRIBUTION LIMITED EVENT ‘SANGAM’ NGO MEET

Virmani Education Trust hosted the Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited- SANGAM, NGO MEET 2020 at Virmani Public School on February 29, 2020.

Women's of Women Literacy & Empowerment Program presented cultural performances and won the awards under various categories such as Best Coordinators, Best Women Literacy Center in-charges, Best Abha and Best Abha Coordinators.

CELEBRATIONS

Various festivals were celebrated such as Republic Day, Holi, and Women’s Day to freshen up the beneficiaries from their stressful lives.
