CCSDS will support 90 civil society organizations in Syria with workshops, mentoring sessions, and funding to increase their impact of their local communities and expand their ability to address humanitarian needs and build sustainable peace in Syria.
Civil society organizations (CSOs) are imperative for addressing local humanitarian needs, offering young people an alternative to violent extremist organizations, and building sustainable peace in Syria. However, Syrian CSOs face a number of obstacles, including dwindling donor support, the loss of experienced leaders, and a lack of opportunities for training and capacity building in order to establish a new generation of civil society activists and better meet the needs of their communities.
There are many locally-based civil society organizations in Northwest and Northeast Syria that are established with a broad trusted network within their local communities, and CCSDS will build their capacity by providing training and mentoring related to program design, strategic and financial planning, sustainable development, peace-building strategies, and responsive approaches to address community needs so that Syrian CSOs can amplify their impact in their local communities.
This project will train 60 Syrian CSOs and support 90 localized interventions that address the humanitarian, peace-building, and developmental needs of communities in Northwest and Northeast Syria, impacting approximately 27,000 Syrians over the course of two years.
