Challenge

Refugee women in Uganda face significant barriers to economic participation and self-reliance. Despite their potential and entrepreneurial spirit, they are often excluded from formal financial services due to lack of proper documentation, absence of collateral, and restrictive social norms that discourage female entrepreneurship. As a result, many refugee women struggle to start or grow small businesses, leaving them dependent on aid and vulnerable to poverty. This project seeks to bridge that g

This project tackles the challenge of financial exclusion and limited opportunities faced by refugee women by providing access to microfinance initiatives, financial literacy training, and tailored support grounded in trauma- and gender-informed approaches.
