Empowering Agents of Change to study in Yucatan

25 years with our Youth

Dear Impulso friends and family,

Impulso Universitario has reached 25 years of supporting Yucatan's Youth in one of the most significant news since our last project report. Since our foundation in 1999, the organization has kept an unwavering commitment to the many students searching to continue their studies with higher education, continually expanding our family. This achievement was celebrated with our local network and Youth, which renewed our commitment to continue our support for years to come. We are immensely thankful to all who have made this story possible, including all our donors.

Otherwise, this school year has seen 17 students graduating from university, and we expect at least 30 more to do so in the coming months. As graduates, we will continue supporting them through our Employment Linkage program if they wish.

Regarding the Comprehensive Training Program, we completed six more sessions covering planning and project management, volunteering activities, comprehensive health, human rights education, and social entrepreneurship. All of these intend to prepare our students with tools to become active Agents of Change. Additionally, one of our sessions included our traditional holiday celebrations, a moment that our Youth looks forward to, as it is an excellent opportunity for them to relax and have some fun with their peers while contributing to their respective communities. As with any other moment, other components of our programs, such as financial aid and psychological support, have continued without interruption.

A new year of support for our Agents of Change

Dear Impulso friends and family,

From the beginning of the school year, Impulso Universitario has been working with 272 young people, intending to train new Agents of Change to better our community. Seventy-nine of these youth belong to our latest generation of students, with the rest returning from previous years to continue their path in our Comprehensive Training Program.

Up to five sessions of the program have been carried out to date. We are covering diverse topics, from skills for job readiness and professional settings to the promotion of an ethical approach to social development and betterment of the community, passing through the adoption of better-studying strategies for university. At the same time, other activities have been completed to promote the integration of our different student groups in our four locations. Additionally, other activities were to further acknowledge and work on the existence of cultural identities in our communities.

It is also important to note that our Comprehensive Training Program has been modified for the ongoing year. We have changed the content and adapted it to current topics of importance for advancing our student's education. The order in which the information is reviewed has also been changed to accommodate better opportunities for our youth in their professional growth.

Furthermore, financial aid and psychological support have been implemented since the beginning of September. As you may know, this is intended to reduce or eliminate possible economic and social barriers that lead to early academic drop-out of our students. The aid amount has been modified for students returning to our programs, slightly increasing it to adjust to their present situation.
