Thriving in School
- 53 first-cycle classrooms (1st to 3rd grade) in 14 educational centers received pedagogical kits with teaching materials.
- 90 school-age girls and boys supported with school supply kits for reintegration into the school system, in partnership with TESCO.
- In 18 communities, with the participation of members of the Parents’ Association, awareness-raising campaigns were carried out in all community spaces to ensure that no child is left unenrolled.
- 75 students from the second and third cycles in 14 educational centers were trained as tutors and received the resources to begin implementing tutoring for 306 students, to strengthen reading, writing, and mathematics performance. This is made possible through Fundación Terra’s Tutoring Scholarships Program.
- 605 adolescents and youth aged 12 to 17 were reached; 408 registered, among whom 60 enrolled in courses and 42% completed them. In addition, Sexual and Reproductive Health talks were conducted with 329 participants.
- 143 students from the second and third cycles were trained as child facilitators on topics such as self-esteem, personal hygiene, and healthy eating. Through their roles as facilitators, they reached more than 1,900 primary and pre-primary students with talks on handwashing, oral hygiene, and the importance of healthy nutrition.
- 1,797 of 1,963 pre-primary and first-cycle students in 28 educational centers were reached through nutritional assessments conducted during 14 sessions. Feedback on the results was provided to parents and teachers in six educational centers where the findings showed a higher percentage of students with a tendency toward obesity. Resources were also provided to strengthen physical education classes.
- 28 capacity-building sessions were conducted for the Parents Association (APF), with the participation of 91 members of the governing boards, including sustainability committees, in eight educational centers (82 women and 9 men).
- 11 educational centers with school gardens received supplies and technical assistance to ensure production, six of them equipped with mesh houses.
- Improvements in infrastructure were made in five schools: roof repair and building of two eco-stoves in one center, painting in two centers, sanitary system improvements in one center, roofing a sports court in one center, and improving 10 PCs in two centers.
- With the presence of the Ambassador of Japan, three classrooms were inaugurated, among other improvements.
- 7 students received scholarships for diversified studies in partnership with Escuela de Agricultura Luis Landa and Escuela El Sembrador.
- In 13 educational centers, the school community and members of local leadership groups conducted an evaluation of the ‘Thriving in School’’ program.
- 9 adolescents and youth enrolled in two alternative education centers (third cycle), four of whom are in ninth grade.
- 14 people over 15 years old were taught literacy skills, and 13 adolescents and youth participated in academic leveling, including five who were reintegrated into seventh grade.
- 34 youths in two alternative secondary education centers, with 14 students (12 women and 2 men) completing the Baccalaureate in Science and Humanities
- 18 children integrated into three community-based pre-primary education centers.
