Clean Water Flows in Five More Villages

By Sage Lancaster | Fundraising and Outreach Coordinator

Clean Water Flowing Close to Home
Clean Water Flowing Close to Home

In June Kids for Kids was able to repair five handpumps in our villages of Kindro, Gawir, Um Gadadda, Um Ga’al and Byna. Clean water now flows close to home once more for hundreds of families thanks to your support!

The handpumps Kids for Kids is repairing are not just ones we have built. These handpumps have often been built years ago by other organisations who are no longer able to access these villages to repair handpumps that have since broken down. Due to our flexible, grassroots, volunteer-led model, Kids for Kids is able to continue helping families in the most remote villages, where many organisations cannot. Growing resource scarcity and soaring inflation rates in the region continue to make this difficult, even for us. We continue to raise funds to reach our villages with essential help whenever possible.

Having clean water nearby is essential, especially for women and girls, as it brings safety and security. The desert is hot, with little shade, and leaves people vulnerable to violence due to the ongoing conflict across the country. By decreasing the time women and girls spend in the desert, you are keeping them safe. Clean water protects health too, keeping families safe from waterborne diseases like cholera, rates of which are extremely high, and expected to get worse during the imminent rainy season.

Thank you for continuing to safegaurd the health of women and girls. Every cent you donate improves the lives of people who have no other hope.
