Dear RATA supporter, Rwanda Assistive Technology Access (RATA) has trained 32 participants on ICT for the blind in 2 cohorts ( 22 young visually impaired and 10 teachers from a special school for the blind called HVP Gatagara ) because of your contribution. Lessons such as keyboard typing using braillino braille display, text formatting, Microsoft word and excel, using smartphones.. were covered in 16 sessions. Among the 22 young visually impaired trained,  after the training  4 of them got a job.

Others are volunteering at RATA, advocating in different areas of the country so that persons with disabilities in Rwanda access ICTs (Assistive technologies).

RATA has been supporting the participants to look for jobs after the training and so far, 4 of them got a job.

Now RATA is conducting a project called: " Accessible digital content for persons with disabilities in education" where teachers of a special school for the blind called HVP Gatagara, are being trained on how to prepare accessible digital content for their students.

Before Covid-19 occured others were volunteering at RATA, advocating in different areas of the country so that persons with disabilities in Rwanda access ICTs (Assistive technologies).

Because of that pandemic, our organization since March 2020 has done few activities as most of our activities were done while bringing together many people.

For the moment, RATA  through its website is  providing basic information and resources needed by persons with disabilities and their caretakers regarding Assistive technology.
