With your donations, Songtaba has continued the support of strengthening girls in school by building their confidence in public speaking activities to boost their skills to be able to engage with duty bearers and the public on issues that concerns them.
This quarter, Songtaba has facilitated the formation of ten (10) more girls clubs in the Saboba district. However, the girls clubs in Nanumba district have undertaken community outreach programmes and have participated in a number of activities. One of such is the participation in parliamentary debate for parliamentary candidates organized by the National Commission for Civic Education for the upcoming elections Ghana will be holding on December 7, 2016. The girls’ representatives demanded from the candidates what their plans are towards supporting girls to stay and complete school, what policies they will be implementing to fight gender base violence in their areas especially forced and early marriage and sexual abuse.
Some other activities the girls under took was the sensitization programmes using games to call for peaceful elections before, during and after elections. These activities have boosted the capacities of girls in the schools and their communities. They are now able to talk freely about issues that affect them. They have also taken the initiative to also organize a cleanup campaign in the district hospital in Bimbilla
