Empowering Girls in School

Convid 19 is a global pandemic that affected the socio-economic lives of many countries including Ghana, It has slow down many economic activities and some other places halt business and institutions.  The untold hardship of this global pandemic on the lives of many citizens has call for collective efforts in the fight against the deadly corona virus. Going by strict adherence to the safety protocol by world health organization, Songtaba has supported girl’s club members in Nanumba to engage their parents on the need to adopt and practice this safety protocol against corona virus. Many rural folks are still not well informed about the pandemic and as such think it is not real.

Girls club members who attend training session on COVID-19 prevention protocols and wer tasked to also  educated their parents at home on the uses of personal protection equipment , frequent hand washing with soap under running water and the application of hand sanitizer when the needs arises.  Parents are told to always use nose mask whenever they in groups and other public places such as market, stores, wedding, naming ceremonies, funeral grounds etc.  18 years old Humaiya, a girl’s club member at Nakpayili district assembly junior high school has this to tell her parents at home: “CORONA virus has claimed many lives in Ghana and the world at large. Currently there is no medicine that cures this deadly virus, the only way to prevent ourselves from this virus is to continue wearing our nose mask whenever we are in the midst of other people either in groups, gathering and public places.  We must also wash our hands frequently any times we come in contact with people and others surfaces.  Hand sanitizer should be used to rub hands whenever water is unavailable to protect us from COVID and other germs.
