Empowering Girls in School

Songtaba is excited to update you once again on how your support is changing the lives of girls and young adolescent girls in the northern region of Ghana. Information is very powerful tool in education and such opportunities should be created for every school going child to access these information.

Promoting rights in schools continue to be major sources of empowerment for student and most especially the girl child. To promote right to information in school, songtaba over the last quarter supported 1225 girls’ club members at our programme school to received guidance and counseling on courses they intern to pursue at the next institutions.  Many girls get stranded after their junior high school education due to lack of information on available course and opportunities for junior high school graduate. Some attends institution against their wish and therefore end up pursuing wrong courses which affect them in future.

 Releasing the need for girls to be conscious of this important right in school, Songtaba supported teacher mentors at the school level to educate girl’s club members on available institutions after graduating from junior high school, and courses available at these schools.  The girls were also taken through some career courses as well as technical and vacation institutions available and skills to be acquired from these institutions.  Girl’s club members were very excited for the guidance and counseling received, and thanks Songtaba and their partners for these wonderful enligntment
