personal hygiene; a concern for girls

By Lamnatu Adam | project Leader

Dear Cherished Donors!

Another excitng moments of sharing with you our great success stories to keep you informed on the impact Songtaba is making in the life of adolescent girls

Female role models in Nanumba embark on a massive education on Personal hygiene and good health promotion among girl’s club members at their respective school. This was done through a well organized interaction session and experience sharing among these girls by the role models. Girls club members at their various school level were taken through the nitigrity and dynamic involved in girls child development. They were taken through sign of adolescent and various ways to promote personal hygiene at different stages in their development. According to Madam Rehinatu human growth and developments are inevitable in human life, and these kinds of developments comes with its own challenges which every girl need to have much knowledge on in order to control and over  challenges associate with it.

Girl’s club members were charge to be very observant on the major sign of their developmental process that need early preparation. For instance, Menstruation among women does not come by surprise; it comes with some sign that signal the girl in question to get closer to sanitary materials. And these materials are common these days, hence every one need to have adequate knowledge on how to use them for personal hygiene. Demonstrations on the use of   sanitary pad were done for girl’s club members to have a better understanding.

Many girls club member asked useful question for more clarity and understanding of overcoming these development changes.  The education was beneficial since many of their questions indicated that most girls have either less or no knowledge on these stages of development. This is because Parents who are supposed to promote this kind of education among their wards at home have not done so. These innocent girls therefore grow up to be with no information and these changes in their growth takes them unaware which for a long time they struggle to deal with and the unfornate ones end up with unwanted pregnancies and drop out of school.
