The rig at work
Rounds of shouting, jumping and clapping heralded the sight of clean drinkable water as the rig bores through the rock. At this point the rig was already 25meters down and on to 50meters, attaining a water level that will be sustainable and available for the village at all times. This was our experience on 18th April 2020, at Babaegbe village in Akinyele local government area of Ibadan in Oyo state Nigeria. The village has suffered lack of potable water since inception with no one to come to their aid. Oak Rural Health Organization, knowing that access to potable water will not only prevent diseases, but also improve the socioeconomic quality of the entire villagers; swung into action which has led to this remarkable achievement. Words could not express the joy of the villagers as they see their long awaited dreams coming to reality. PVC casing was installed immediately, covering the entire 50meter depth.
We couldn't have moved this far without the generosity of our kind hearted donors and friends. However, the villagers are still anxious to have the water flowing freely. Having completed the major phase of the project, we still need to put the plumbing installations and other accessories in place to finally achieve the goal of this project. Can you be the one to give a part or all of the fund for the finishing? A sum of $353 is all we need!

DRILLING ARRANGEMENTS CONCLUDED!

Water remains an essential commodity. COVID19 pandemic makes it more essential in the recent times. Maintaining a high level of personal hygiene becomes a neccesity in the presence of a global pandemic with no known authentic cure. Prevention now becomes more important and a better option. Babaegbe villagers in Ibadan slum Nigeria are in big dilemma as access to clean and potable water remains a "thug of war".
Oak Rural Health Organization has put machineries on motion to ensure that the project to provide potable water becomes a reality. Drilling exercise which supposed to take place 2 weeks ago was marred by a stay at home order of the federal and state government to curtail the spread of COVID-19. The villagers have been reassured, while Saturday 18th April has been tentatively fixed for the borehole drilling. We appreciate your kind heartedness for seeing us through this stage. However, we still seek more support of little fund for the finishing touches after the drilling exercise.

Our team and villagers at the village meeting
The feat of getting Babaegbe village in Ibadan city outskirt, an access to portable water is yielding a positive result. The dwellers of this ancient village has been suffering from lack of major infrastructures, including portable water for quite an age. Oak Rural Health Organization's strengthening Rural health programme ensures this difficulty is solved. The villagers themselves have been useful in this regard. The Organization has resolved to make use of the little resources available in a way that yields bigger results. This conclusion was reached during our recent meeting with the village elders, and women who are most affected by the problem of lack of portable water.
Good news! The engineers have agreed to get the drilling done as soon as possible. This if done will be the first of its kind in the history of the village, and a greater success for the Organization. The villagers on their own end has promised an unrelenting support to ensure it becomes a reality.
Our fundraising activities on GlobalGiving.org has been yielding. But we still need a little more to cover the cost of other important accessories after the completion of the drilling and encasement process. While appreciating our donors for choosing this project, we still solicit for more to enable us make a lasting impact.
