By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader
Women in rural areas of Uganda face persistent poverty caused by limited access to income opportunities, vocational training, financial services, and productive resources. Single mothers, and caregivers of orphaned children are among the hardest hit, struggling to provide food, healthcare, and education as climate shocks, poor harvests, and unemployment reduce household incomes. This project will empower vulnerable women with practical skills, business training, savings group support, start-up livelihood resources, and ongoing mentorship to establish sustainable income-generating activities. As women increase their earnings, families will enjoy improved nutrition, children will remain in school, and households will gain greater financial resilience. Investing in women's economic empowerment will help them break the cycle of poverty, strengthen local economies, create lasting self-reliance, and enable entire communities to build a more prosperous and hopeful future.
