Turing Trust Funds Update #3

Hello all,

We hope this message finds you well.

This is our third quaterly update on how we are using the funds raised in the Global Giving campaign that you were a part of.

In our last update we told you about our biggest shipment to date, which your donations helped to make happen! These 691 computers are now making their way into schools across Ghana and giving more students access to quality resources and skills.

The IT training in the North of Ghana is now happening in March and the director of all our ICCES schools is overseeing the event. More students than ever will be able to attend with the support of the director, making this a really excited training.

Through these trainings and the 40ft container shipment, we have now distrubuted all the funds raised in this incredibly successful fundraiser.

Once again, thank you all for being a part of the Turing Trust journey and helping to influence the future of students in rural Ghana.

The impact of this fundraiser is continuosly changing and expanding and in our next update we will let you know how all our schools have been fairing since their trainings and how many more schools have new computer labs.

Turing Trust Funds Update #2

Hello all,

We hope this message finds you well and looking forward to the holidays!

This is our second quaterly update on how we are using the funds raised in the Global Giving campaign that you were a part of.

In our last update we told you about the IT training event happening in the Ashanti region with 30 of our brightest students and showed you how we setup two new computer labs in the Cape Coast region. These two events went extremely well and thus have convinced us to continue dedicating Global Giving funds to these causes.

Our project managers in Ghana have already conducted training ... students and teachers in Accra and are set to undertake another in the Northern region in December. This latter training is of huge importance as our schools in the remote North often have even less access to such skills and knowledge.

We are also pleased to announce that your donations contributed towards our biggest ever shipment of computers. We told you previously that we were set to beat our record of 392 computers and, after an incredibly busy summer, we filled not one, but two 20ft shipping containers with IT equipment, which are currently on their way to Ghana. Later in December Ghana will receive 644 desktops, 792 flat screens and 47 laptops, as well as various other IT accessories and technical tools. This means another 32 schools will be outfitted with IT labs in 2016, thanks in part to your generous donations.

Turing Trust Funds Update #1

Hello all,

We hope this message finds you well and enjoying your summer!

We would like to take this opportunity to give you an update on how we are beginning to use the funds raised in the Global Giving campaign you generous folk made such a success. As the Turing Trust projects are so varied, we will be using these funds over an extended period for numerous causes under our support and thus this will be the first report of many.

As many of you may know from our Newsletter updates and Facebook page, we had an incredible week of IT and data training with 51 students in early July funded and run by our friends at data analytic company BIPB. The training was such a success that many of the teachers that attended have gone on to carry out further mini trainings for those students unable to attend.

This amazing work has culminated in a plan to undertake a much larger training in the Ashanti region for another 30 students at the beginning of this new school year. The Global Giving funds that you donated will enable our students, teachers and trainers, to come together for a three day intensive IT and beginner coding training, supported by a visiting Computer Science graduate volunteer from the UK. We are so excited to be able to give more students a more in depth understanding of IT and for them to realise their potential. We also hope to inspire our teachers to think outside the box when it comes to their IT classes.

We are also excited to announce that due to the increasing influx of computer donations in the last 6 months, we are on the verge of our next shipment of equipment out to Ghana. In March we sent 392 computers and laptops and it's looking like we are set to beat our own record once again. Until this shipment arrives however we are going to use your Global Giving donations to undertake two more computer lab installations in the Cape Coast region. We have an unfortunate shortage of computer monitors and thus will need to purchase these in Ghana in order to stick to our development plans and give 100 more students access to IT.

These projects will make a huge impact on the skills, experince and confidence of all 130 students involved. Not only this but from our observations of Ghanaian generosity and dedication so far, we are certain that this will have an effect on many, many more students and teachers in the months to follow.
