Thriving Youth Farmers Uganda (TYoFU) transforms lives by empowering rural youth aged 15-35 in Wakiso, Uganda, with regenerative farming skills and employment, fostering hope and food security. Your support will grow opportunities for these young dreamers and fund eco-friendly projects like bio-digesters and fish projects to nourish their communities.
Uganda has one of the world's youngest populations, with over 70% under 30. Yet, up to 18% of youth aged 15-24 are unemployed, not in education or training, with young women hit hardest. Even graduates face tough job prospects: only 10-15% secure formal jobs, and many remain unemployed for over a year. This highlights the urgent need for localized, skills-based opportunities like those provided by TYoFU to empower and engage Uganda's youth effectively.
Thriving Youth Farmers Uganda empowers youth aged 15-35, in rural Wakiso by providing hands-on training in regenerative agriculture, including contour cropping, organic farming, and aquaculture, to create jobs and boost food security. TYoFU equips youth with transferable skills in climate-resilient farming practices and leadership, fostering economically viable communities and replicable models for sustainable development.
TYoFU aims to empower 500 youths in rural Wakiso over the next five years, equipping them with regenerative agriculture skills to secure employment and combat food insecurity for 400,000 residents affected by acute hunger. By fostering climate-resilient farming and leadership, TYoFU will create economically stable communities, enabling youth to support their families' education, health, and well-being while establishing a replicable model for sustainable development across Uganda.
