Dear Friends,
Thank you for your continued support of Thriving Youth Farmers Uganda (TYoFU). Because of your generosity, we continue to create opportunities for young people in Wakiso to learn sustainable farming practices, strengthen their livelihoods, and contribute to food security within their communities.
Over the past few months, we have continued to expand both our on-the-ground activities and our external partnerships, ensuring that the voices and experiences of youth farmers are represented in wider conversations about sustainable agriculture.
Sharing Youth-Led Agricultural Knowledge Beyond Uganda
One exciting milestone this period was the participation of our Grant Writing Volunteer, Allie Stankewich, in King's College London's Sustainability Seminar Series. The seminar, Sowing Seeds of Change: The Future of Sustainable Agriculture, brought together academics, practitioners, and advocates to discuss food systems, climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture.
Allie shared insights from TYoFU's work with young farmers in Uganda, highlighting how community-led approaches, practical training, and locally rooted solutions can contribute to more resilient agricultural systems. This was an important opportunity to bring the experiences of youth farmers in Wakiso into an international conversation and raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing agricultural communities.
Continuing Progress on the Ground
At the farm, our team has continued supporting young people through practical agricultural training and hands-on learning experiences. These activities help participants build skills in sustainable farming, food production, and agribusiness while strengthening confidence and leadership.
Our work remains focused on creating pathways for young people to improve their livelihoods while contributing to local food security. Through demonstration activities and ongoing mentorship, participants continue to gain valuable experience that they can apply both on the farm and within their own communities.
We are also exploring ways to strengthen our Integrated Farming Hub, including improving access to farming tools, educational materials, and equipment that will support both training and productivity.
Looking Ahead: The Resilient Design Series
We are excited to share that TYoFU is launching a new initiative called Resilient Design: 9 Lessons in 9 Months.
This series will showcase practical lessons from the farm on topics such as soil health, water management, crop diversity, youth leadership, and sustainable agriculture. Through stories, demonstrations, and educational content, we hope to share knowledge more widely while helping supporters better understand the realities and opportunities facing young farmers in Uganda.
The series will also help us strengthen connections with our growing community of supporters and partners by providing regular insights into the work taking place on the ground.
Preparing for Future Growth
As we look ahead, we are preparing for upcoming fundraising opportunities, including GlobalGiving's July Bonus Day campaign. These opportunities are critical in helping us secure resources for essential needs such as:
Each investment helps us create better learning environments and stronger opportunities for the young people we serve.
Thank You
Every training session, demonstration activity, and opportunity we provide is made possible through the generosity of supporters like you.
Your contributions are helping young people gain practical skills, build confidence, and create more resilient futures for themselves and their communities.
From all of us at TYoFU, thank you for believing in the potential of youth-led agriculture and for continuing to walk alongside us on this journey.
With gratitude,
Martin Tomusange
