Cyclone Pam has caused widespread devastation to the tiny islands of Vanuatu affecting over 200,000 people. GVI has close ties with Vanuatu and its people, following 7 years of working with local partners in this incredible country. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed and all donations to this fund will be used directly on the ground by the partners of GVI in their emergency support and relief efforts.
Cyclone Pam, a category 5 cyclone and one of the most powerful cyclones to make landfall in the Pacific in living memory, passed directly over the Vanuatu island group between the 12-14th of March 2015 causing widespread damage to homes and infrastructure. In the aftermath of the event thousands of people are without shelter, food, and access to safe drinking water.
GVI has close connections with the region after 7 years working in Vanuatu with our local partners. Working in collaboration with aid operations and organizations working on the ground in Vanuatu we aim to raise funds to directly support emergency response as well as long-term rehabilitation efforts. This situation is urgent and we will use your donations to directly support aid operations and large-scale efforts to support long term recovery in communities and schools.
With long standing relationships in the affected communities we will continue to provide support to help those communities in need through donations, services, and direct labor.
