Hello, warm greetings from Peace Winds Korea.
Thank you very much for your continued support and interest in our work in Ukraine.
I am pleased to share that Peace Winds, together with our trusted partner Eleos Ukraine, has opened a “Family Hub” in Zviahel, Zhytomyr Oblast, about 50 km west of Kyiv. This safe space was created for those who have lost so much in the ongoing war—women, children, displaced families, and local residents struggling to rebuild their lives.
At the Family Hub, people find free legal, social, and psychological support. For many, it is the first place where they can speak openly about their fears and receive practical help—from solving pension or property issues, to applying for public assistance, to finding ways to cope with trauma and domestic violence. What may seem like a small piece of advice often becomes a lifeline of hope for someone who felt they had no place to turn.
The Hub is more than just a service—it is a warm and welcoming refuge. One elderly displaced woman, age 77, was desperate to register with a refugee agency but could not fill out the forms on her own. Our staff patiently walked her through every step, and she left not only with her application submitted but with dignity restored.
Emotional recovery is equally vital. Through one-on-one counseling and group activities like art therapy workshops for military wives and mothers, people rediscover strength and solidarity. A 49-year-old woman, who had silently carried the heavy burden of raising her son while her husband serves in the army, said that counseling helped her smile again for the first time in months.
Children and young people also receive care from specialists who guide them in managing emotions, building self-confidence, and overcoming bullying. These efforts help the youngest survivors of war to imagine a future beyond fear.
As the war nears its fourth year, more families than ever are in need of support. The Family Hub is here to ensure that no one has to face these hardships alone. With your compassion, we can continue to provide a place of safety, healing, and hope for those who have lost so much.
Thank you for reading,
Warm regards,
Natsuko
