Education through music for Brazilian teenagers

The Sound of the Sertão Project conducted a variety of activities in November and December, fostering performances, cultural initiatives, and moments of connection. In November, participants specializing in wind and percussion instruments prepared for the Feast of the Patron Saint in the Samanaú Community through rehearsals and an exchange between groups. Additionally, the project highlighted the theme of Black Consciousness with discussion circles and Afro-Brazilian Art workshops, celebrating Afro-Brazilian culture and identity.

In December, participants opened an event at the Seridó Higher Education Center (UFRN) with a Christmas-themed repertoire, showcasing their musical development and reinforcing the project's significance as a driver of social transformation. A gathering at Panificadora Seridó celebrated the year's accomplishments through performances, reflections, and opportunities for unity among the team and participants. The month also included a presentation at the Rito de Passagem (Rite of Passage) ceremony at a partner school, further strengthening ties with the local community.

Through these activities, the project highlighted participants’ technical and personal advancements, cultivating essential skills such as discipline, focus, and teamwork, while enhancing their confidence during performances. The positive impact of the Sound of the Sertão Project underscores its transformative influence on the lives of young participants and the community at large.

It was with great emotion that we held a special presentation to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Aldeias Infantis SOS Brasil in Caicó. This event was a milestone, honoring decades of dedication and positive impact on the lives of so many children and families.

We are currently preparing for another important occasion: on September 7th, when we celebrate Brazil's Independence Day, there will be a parade in the city in honor of National Week. Our participants are excited and have already started rehearsing to take part in this great event, proudly representing our orchestra and the entire community.

We are very excited about what's to come and remain committed to providing enriching experiences for everyone involved in the project.
