The mission of Aldeias Infantils SOS Brasil is to support vulnerable children, adolescents, young people and families, boosting their development and autonomy in a protective family and community environment. This project seeks the continuity of the music classes that we carry out for children and adolescents in a high situation of social vulnerability in the City of Caico - Brazil.
Learning music means integrating experiences that involve living, perceiving and reflecting, leading them to ever more elaborate levels of knowledge and creative construction. At Aldeias Infantis SOS music is widely used in workshops and in the process of learning and socializing the public who attend family strengthening activities in the communities where the organization operates. In the city of Caico , we carried out the Heimann Gmeiner Philharmonic project with children and teenagers.
To continue the activities of music classes, with a conductor and offering afternoon snacks to the young people who participate, we need the collaboration of our generous donors to continue the work in achieving the dreams of these young people. Currently, 50 students, between 09 and 17 years old, participate. Our project has existed since 2020 and we have performed musical concerts at events in the city, increasing the self-esteem of these children, young people and their families.
From the moment that children and adolescents have opportunities to develop their skills and are in a protective and healthy home the likelihood to further develop increases and the risk of losing parental care decreases. Therefore, hopefully avoiding foster care or potentially being homeless begging for money on the streets.
