Education to empower girls and women

Diana is happy to have the opportunity to train and dream of a better future for herself and her children.

Diana, 25 years old, already has 3 small children, the children's father left and no longer lives with them. From a very young age, Diana had to abandon her studies to work and earn an income, but it is increasingly difficult to find a job, without studying.

Now through the training that Diana can acquire with this project focused on training women head of family, who have not been able to access education, or formal employment, hopes to strengthen as a woman, learn techniques, develop soft skills to start their business. meals and learn to manage it, in order to increase your income and improve living conditions for your family.

Diana's biggest dream is to give her children better study conditions than what she had.

Some of the expected results for Diana and many more women, with this project are:

Develop in teenagers, mothers and other related women, skills so they can face the inequality, violence and discrimination they suffer in their environments and can make responsible decisions.

To ensure that the participants improve their quality of life, that of their families and communities, realizing their potential, increasing their income and achieving economic independence.

Increase the incomes of the participating women and their families, so that three years after having graduated from the program they have a better income than the current ones.

Achieve that around 30% of the women of the program develop gastronomic ventures.

Empower the participants so that they develop their strengths, grow in self-confidence and overcome the fear of failure.

Train women while they work, by staggered cohorts, through a personalized methodology of learning to undertake doing, supported by coaching - to develop their potential.

The armed conflict in Colombia and the situation in neighboring countries, has produced thousands of displaced people in recent years, women and their children, an important group, have arrived in the city of Medellín. With their rural origin, low schooling, a large offspring, these women must face new threats in the city, experiencing situations of uprooting, violence, poverty and social exclusion.

This is the case of Daniela and her mother, who had to leave their town and come to Medellin, only with their few belongings in a bag. Daniela was part of our girls attended while her mother was looking for how to get some money to survive or perform unfair or poorly paid jobs.

There are many women and girls in this situation who do not have formal or informal education or have not even finished high school, some of them are head of their home and given their unemployment situation, scarce and unstable income and / or informality They can provide for themselves, or for their children. Many of these young women have empirical experience in the kitchen and desire to scale in knowledge while they work. That is why this project seeks to empower them, generating multisensory experiences, forming them from the being, in entrepreneurship, management, costs, gastronomy and hospitality, so that they develop a career in the leading restaurants of the city and / or through their ventures scale and increase their income, impacting their families and communities.

Now Daniela has the opportunity to study, while her mother is strengthened by learning new cooking techniques, to have her own business in the future and to dream of a better life for both of them.
