A prolonged armed conflict has brought negative impacts to our country such as internal displacement, violence, and poverty (46% of the population live in poverty -PND, 2010), child labor (13% of the Colombian children work - UNICEF, 2013). Only 35.3% of college-age youth are enrolled in higher education. A high percentage of youth remain in informal jobs.
This project will prepare youth to access and succeed in higher education, as well as formal well-paying jobs. With this program we want to make a difference so that with Study and work, these young people break the circle of poverty in which they have grown.
These young people will have the possibility to access higher education and formal jobs, so that they will be removed in the long-term from drug, prostitution, armed-conflict, robbery and undesired pregnancies, etc. They are the citizens of tomorrow, and we want them to be part of a more equitable society. We believe that a good citizenship is built on education, critical sense, responsibility, and autonomy. We are convinced that this program will help them to achieve it.
This project has provided additional documentation in a DOCX file (projdoc.docx).
