Jafra's program provides education for 1,200 Palestinian refugee in several Palestinian refugee camps. The war has led to school closures. With over 50% of the population under 18, education is seen as crucial for justice and community empowerment. Adhering to the principle "Education is Liberation," Jafra ensures that refugees receive the education they deserve. The project offers regular schooling and exam preparation support in child-friendly spaces, empowering the next generation.
The long-standing Palestinian refugee issue in Syria since 1948, compounded by the decade-long Syrian war, economic crises, and resource shortages, has severely impacted the life of more than 500 000 Palestinian refugees in Syria. Education sector was highly effected beside the Chronic de-funding of UNRWA has further exacerbated the situation, leading to a lack of rehabilitated schools and resources for quality education and other basic services.
Jafra will provide a safe environment in child-friendly spaces for education and psycho-social activities, supporting the resilience of Palestinian refugee children. This initiative aims to ensure that over 1,200 students this school year, in 4 Palestinian refugee camps, receive their right to education with dignity. The Jafra Foundation has equipped all locations with educational materials, teachers, social workers, a psycho-social team, child protection policies, and safeguarding measures.
Palestinian refugees, having lost their lands and livelihoods, view education as their primary tool for achieving justice, a better future, and more empowered communities. With young population , human resources are the main asset for Palestinian refugees. Empowering these children with quality education and raising awareness about their rights is crucial for their future. By ensuring that children receive their right to a quality education, to build a better future and resilient community.
