Our High School Leaders
As this year is coming to a close, I have been reflecting on all we’ve experienced this year. We’ve conquered trauma, fought against violence, and risen above oppression far beyond what we could have ever imagined. With your support, we have done so much to equip high school scholars to end the cycle of sexual violence. Here’s how:
• Three high school scholars have graduated from high school last year and were trained in a leadership development program where they learned about public speaking, micro-businesses, project implementation, and advocacy against violence.
• These graduates put their leadership skills to practice through our outreach programs at partnering high schools. At these high schools all around Kenya, we educated students about violence prevention, children’s rights, and trauma healing.
• Our scholars also led our annual International Day of the Girl conference for over 100 high school students in Kibera—East Africa’s largest slum.
Through the gift of education, our scholars have been thriving against all odds.
For this, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. We hope to do even more in the coming year to continue training our high school scholars to lead with their education, skills, and leadership. Their leadership will impact and reach out to hundreds of high school students who have similar experienced abuse, trauma, and oppression.
On #GivingTuesday (November 29th), The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match up to $1 million in donations on GlobalGiving! That means there will be an unprecedented 50% match with $500,000 in matching funds! This is the largest amount of donations ever matched on a single day on GlobalGiving! Donations are on a first come first serve basis so give your donation early tomorrow!
Will you consider partnering with us to education and equip more high school leaders in Kenya?
