We are Sustainable Vision, NGO from Kilimanjaro region in northern Tanzania. Sustainable Vision projects focus on children who have significant obstacles pursuing education. Join and become a supporter of our activities to give a second chance to children and youth who could not be educated.
Children and youth in Moshi, Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania do not have access to education due to child marriage and child labour, especially, children and youth from Maasai tribe. Significant number of children and youth drop from school. Children who are pregnant, are not allowed to attend school due to state policy. By 2013, approximately 55,000 girls were expelled from school due to their pregnancy. Boys are involved in household work such as taking care of cattle.
UNESCO report from 2013 reports that secondary education reduces child marriages by 64% and early birth by 59% as well as extreme poverty by 60%. Children`s education plays a central role for development. Construction of Education Center providing both school education and vocational training (carpentry, secretarial, hotel management, tourist work) for children and youth in Moshi, Kilimanjaro region, Tanzania will ensure access to education among the most vulnerable children and youth.
We start with building Education Center for children and youth which has 2 classrooms and capacity to accommodate around 50 direct beneficiaries. In addition, Education Center would provide extra-curriculum activities for 100 other youth in the afternoon and weekends. In the long run Education Center would expand to serve approximately 2000 children and youth. Investment in education would lead to higher income and better lives for youth. Center aims to give access to quality education.
