More children in rural areas of the Greater Accra Region in Ghana need sponsorship

Registering Isaac - an orphan - out of school

On Wednesday 23rd November, our Executive Dirctor, Laud Akuffo and one of ot volunteers, Melinda Nyoko went to one of the rural villages in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, called Obom. This is the same community where we held our free health screening. Due to our previous intereactions with the community we knew that many children in this village are currently not in school. We wanted to visit the community to take a register of all the children who are currently not attending school. One of the community leaders, Honourable Abdul-Wahab Mohammed had organised this event. For the registration we took down some key information about the students, such as their date of birth, parents employment etc. In all we found that a huge number of children are currently not in school and need our support. We now have a total of 175 children waiting for sponsorship, many of them are working in child labour activities, such as selling coconuts. Our sponsorship includes the payment of all school fees, uniform, learning materirals and health insurance.

In addition, we are now working on organising our 2016 Christmas party. We are also fundraising for this seperatly on Global Giving in order to make this years Christmas party even bigger and better for children in need - please also check out that project.

Giving Tuesday is coming up on the 29th November - on this day we have a chance to get our funds matched by 50% by Global Giving. This means that your donation will go even further! Hence, this will be the perfect time to donate to either of our projects. This will be the best Christmas present to our community in Ghana. In additon to this huge matching opportunity, all new recurring donations made from #GivingTuesday through December 31st will be matached at 200% up to $100, on the fourth donation! Recurring donations are a sustainable way to give to our project and to make sure the children we sponsor can stay in school month by month and year by year.

We Thank you in advance for your generous support and hope you enjoy the Christmas season.
