Discordance

By Camilo Restrepo Raigosa | 1st place - "HIV: A Look Look Through Art" 3rd Ed.

English:

Art is a form of representing the reality of a society; referring to this reality, the artist captures their vision and expresses their feelings.

My name is Camilo Restrepo Raigosa, I am a photographer from Medellín, and I won the first place of the 3rd edition of the contest "HIV: A Look Through Art."

With the piece "Discordance" I praise the couples who have dared to live in HIV serodiscordance, those who, despite all their fears and any possible response, have decided to open up to their partner. But above all, I honor those who have decided to take on the challenge, break taboos, and embrace the possibility of loving beyond what makes us different. It is an ode to inclusion and to that decisive moment when you make that person feel the most valuable, because what matters is not the past, but the construction of a future together.

I am immensely grateful to the "Sí Futuro" foundation for opening the doors to local artists to showcase their vision of social realities that are rarely discussed. More than a monetary prize and public recognition, I am left with the great satisfaction that positive messages continue to prevail and transform realities.

Thanks to this contest I was able to promote the piece not only in the exhibition itself but also through new showcases like the one held at the Fundación Universitaria San Martin, where, through a talk and an additional 30-day exhibition. There young students and workers at the institution were impacted with the message.

Once again, I thank the foundation and its collaborators for carrying out these types of initiatives. I encourage everyone who reads this to embrace the social realities around us to become active and transformative agents of those realities.
