An Update from Our Villages

By Emma Peadon | Senior Fundraising Executive

Holi Celebrations in our India Village
Holi Celebrations in our India Village

As the halfway mark of 2023 approaches life in our Villages is as busy as ever! The children have continued to enjoy all aspects of our Head, Heart and Hands ethos in our home from home Villages, allowing our children access to an excellent education, a nurturing environment to grow up in, and skill classes to support their futures. Over the past few months many of our children have been busy studying and preparing for their exams. We wish them all the very best for their results.

Our Children in India are enjoying a well deserved summer break after all their hard work during the Spring Term. Before they left the Village to return home and see their families they were able to join in many end of term activities including a Quiz Competition, and their Annual Awards Evening. Our Staff also enjoyed an evening together playing games, singing, dancing and enjoying some yummy food to celebrate another successful year taking care of our children. They are now enjoying the break to rejuvenate and relax before the children return to the Village after their summer holidays.

In Nepal our staff have organised a range of activity workshops to promote Mental Health Awareness Week. The children have had the opportunity to try activities such as Yoga, Meditation, Nature Walks, as well as Team Building Activities. In March children in both our India and Nepal Villages also celebrated Holi alongside their friends and our staff members.

In our Zambia Village we opened our brand new library, complete with new books and computers thanks to the support of The JAF Foundation. These new resources will greatly support the education of our children in Zambia, and the future generation of changemakers who will live in our Village in future years.

The selection process has recently completed in Zambia, with our team of staff and experts travelling to various rural areas to find our next generation of children. We look forward to welcoming all our new children in January 2024!

Thank you to all our supporters for continuing to help us support and care for our children!
