Dear Project Supporters,
In June 2019, Sylvester Renner, President of Develop Africa, had the opportunity to visit the Success Tall Academy Nursery and Preparatory School in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The school is located at the Western part of Freetown, off Old School, Hill Station - Hill Top. The community is a deprived one. The school was opened to help in nation-building by providing a learning environment for deprived kids.
99 kids with eager-to-learn looks on their faces welcomed Sylvester. Develop Africa is thankful for your support that is assisting Success Tall Academy with school supplies and scholarships since the 2016-17 school year. YOU are making a difference.
The headteacher of the school expressed his gratitude during Sylvester’s visit in this video-
My name is Lahai Turay. I am the headteacher for Success Tall Academy and Nursery Preparatory School. Actually, this school has been in existence from 2016 to 2019. It's taken three years now, close to four years, but as a school, we have come to know Develop Africa. Back when we started in 2016 you know is when they actually started to help our school with materials. You know like books and pencils, bags and a lot more.
Indeed, Develop Africa has played a significant role in the life of our pupils.
We welcome your ongoing support as we continue to provide children at Success Tall Academy and other future leaders in Sierra Leone with the resources they need. We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.
Warm regards,
Amy and the Develop Africa team

Your support helped ship these much-needed supplies to future leaders in Freetown, Sierra Leone this past month. During the course of the distribution a total number of 82 kids from 5 different schools received school supplies:
A local TV station, SLBS aired this clip about the distribution and other Develop Africa programs.
In the clip, the Program Manager gave an overview of activities and interventions of Develop Africa Sierra Leone such as: the setting up of the Creating Pathways Centre established for girls who got pregnant during the course of the Ebola outbreak, scholarship for less privileged kids across the country, supply of learning materials to different schools right across the country, distribution of mosquito nets to kids, post mudslide and flooding intervention and free computer tutorials to school going kids.
The children all received a bag each containing, three exercise books, a pack of sharpeners, eraser, paper glues, a pack of crayons and two pens, pencils and rulers. The program manager encouraged kids to take advantage of the learning materials and use them for the intended purpose and make their education as their number one priority. He made them understand that if they choose education today the world will come running to them tomorrow

Dear project supporters,
Success Tall Academy in Sierra Leone was delighted to receive school supplies thanks to your generous support. The students at Success Tall Academy were delighted to receive book bags school supplies.
The school expressed their gratitude in the letter below saying
Our aim is to help in nation building by creating a very good learning environment for deprived kids. In seeing that this goal be met, we are grateful to Develop Africa Sierra Leone and GlobalGiving for their relentless support to see that the above be achieved by providing the school and the kids with learning materials needed to enhance learning. The learning materials provided over the years and recently were given to the kids and some were used to form the school library. We are very excited to know that organization as such that desires to give the best in quality education like Develop Africa exists. Most of these kids normally used plastic bags to come to school, but after you provided them with the bags and other school-related materials they were encouraged and they are excited using the school materials provided.
We want to say a big THANK YOU to the management and staff of Develop Sierra Leone and we look forward to a lasting partnership.

Dear project supporters,
As part of our goal to help develop the next generation of leaders, we recently helped sponsor a leadership training event thanks in part to your generous donations.
TEDxYouth@KingTom took place in Freetown, Sierra Leone on July 28, 2018. It was the first TEDx event specifically dedicated to youths in Sierra Leone. The goals of the event included fostering critical thinking, showcasing talents, and reflecting ideas that will empower young people in Sierra Leone and spur them to action. The full-day conference featured authentic and inspiring talks from 13 movers and shakers in Sierra Leone, an Art Exhibition & Musical performances from young artists, 'Networking & Activities' fair, and an innovation corner.
Through your support, we provided funds to assist with souvenirs, logistics, planning, and supplies. Develop Africa was listed as one of the sponsors.
The conference was a great success as you can see from the photos and the Twitter Feed. One participant aptly summed it up as follows:
"It was such a thrilling experience! While each speaker was unique, they all said just the right thing to motivate us to do more... to do better... if not for ourselves, for the next generation. Each talk carried its own distinct message but all together honing the fact that the future of Sierra Leone lies in our hands and we can either make it worse or make it better."
Thank you for helping to foster change. We are deeply appreciative of your on-going support- you are truly helping the future leaders of Sierra Leone. We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.
